Liquity Adopts the Chainlink Standard for Cross-Chain Interoperability for BOLD

We’re excited to announce that Liquity V2 has adopted the Chainlink standard for secure cross-chain interoperability for BOLD!

BOLD, Liquity V2’s new stablecoin, will now operate seamlessly across Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, and Optimism, and all venues where both Liquity V2’s friendly forks and Chainlink CCIP are supported. Liquity V2 is utilizing the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard—a secure framework to make any token cross-chain native via Chainlink CCIP— to enable cross-chain token transfers of BOLD.

Liquity selected CCIP as its interoperability solution because Chainlink has the most proven track record of maintaining the highest standard of security and reliability Furthermore, CCIP is backed by the Risk Management Network—a separate, independent network that continually monitors and verifies cross-chain operations for suspicious activity. This additional layer of security is particularly important given historical industry exploits and the billions in user funds lost due to unreliable cross-chain infrastructure.

Liquity V2 enables borrowers to access liquidity against Ether and staked Ether (LSTs) at market-driven interest rates. With its launch accompanied by multiple friendly forks across diverse EVM-compatible chains, Liquity V2 leverages Chainlink CCIP to expand BOLD’s reach. This integration enhances BOLD’s utility, enabling seamless accessibility and liquidity across multiple networks while streamlining operations for users.

In order to help enable cross-chain transfers of Liquity’s stablecoin, BOLD, Liquity needed access to a highly secure and reliable interoperability solution. After reviewing various solutions, Liquidy has adopted Chainlink CCIP because it provides a multitude of important benefits and features, such as:

  • Defense-in-depth security—CCIP’s consensus layer is powered by the same Chainlink Decentralized Oracle Network (DON) infrastructure that has secured $75+ billion in DeFi TVL at its peak and enabled $18+ trillion in onchain transaction value since the start of 2022. Each CCIP transfer is redundantly validated by multiple DONs, including an independent Risk Management Network that continuously monitors and validates the behavior of CCIP—a wholly unique concept in cross-chain interoperability that builds upon established engineering principles (N-version programming).
  • Secure Token Transfers—CCIP features a plug-and-play solution consisting of audited token pool contracts that handle the complexity of burning and minting or locking and minting tokens across chains.
  • Programmable Token Transfers— CCIP enables the transfer of value (via CCTs) cross-chain along with data instructions informing the receiving smart contract on what to do with those tokens once they arrive on the destination chain. Through cross-chain programmability, CCIP can condense a complex set of actions involving multiple users, blockchains, and assets down to a single atomic cross-chain instruction.
  • Extendable and future-proof—CCIP is built to be future-proof where future improvements can continue to be made, including the integration of new blockchain networks, and the incorporation of new defense-in-depth approaches to security.

“This integration marks a key step for Liquity as we expand the reach and utility of BOLD through secure, seamless cross-chain interoperability. Chainlink CCIP provides the security and programmability necessary for BOLD users to bridge across networks while preserving user trust and decentralized principles.”—Sam Lekhak, Head of Marketing, Liquity.

About Chainlink

Chainlink is the standard for onchain finance, verifiable data, and cross-chain interoperability. Chainlink is unifying liquidity across global markets and has enabled over $18 trillion in transaction value across the blockchain economy. Major financial market infrastructures and institutions, such as Swift, Fidelity International, and ANZ Bank, as well as top DeFi protocols including Aave, GMX, and Lido, use Chainlink to power next-generation applications for banking, asset management, and other major sectors. About Liquity V2

Liquity V2 is a decentralized borrowing protocol that allows users to borrow against their ETH. Powered by its ETH-backed stablecoin, BOLD, Liquity V2 combines market-driven interest rates, high loan-to-value ratios, and an immutable design to offer self-sovereign borrowing on Ethereum.

Through its integration with Chainlink CCIP, Liquity V2 extends the utility of BOLD across chains and EVM forks, enabling seamless and secure cross-chain transfers. This interoperability ensures that BOLD can act as a unifying stablecoin in an ecosystem of sovereign CDPs while maintaining liquidity and accessibility across multiple networks.
